United have suffered a huge setback as captain Misbah-ul-Haq has been sidelined from PSL 2018 final
Islamabad United have suffered a big blow as Captain Misbah-ul-Haq has been ruled out of the PSL final that will be played in Karachi on 25th March. The franchise notched up a comfortable win over Karachi Kings in the Qualifier 1 game played at Dubai to cement their place in the finals of the competition.
Misbah-ul-Haq has suffered from a hairline fracture on his wrist after being struck by a vicious short-pitch delivery from Karachi Kings bowler Tymal Mills during the last round-robin game played at Sharjah. The 43-year old was struck after being caught in an awkward position as he was unable to get out of the way due to a well-directed short-pitch delivery.
South Africa’s Jean-Paul Duminy led the side in the Qualifier 1 game against Karachi Kings. Sahibzada Farhan came into the side to replace injured Misbah in the final XI.
This is the third player which has been ruled out of PSL for Islamabad United. Earlier, the side lost their vice-captain Rumman Raees due to a knee injury suffered during the game. Andre Russell was also ruled out of the competition due to a hamstring problem.
Misbah-ul-Haq is certainly a big loss for Islamabad United as he brings a lot of experience to the side. This season, he opted to drop down the order to give more opportunities to youngsters like Hussain Talat and Asif Ali. Islamabad United have sealed their place in the PSL 2018 final with a convincing win over Karachi Kings.
The next two games will decide as to which team will face Islamabad United in the finals of PSL 2018 at National Cricket Stadium, Karachi on Sunday.
