Newbies Multan keen to make an impression in their first season

Multan Sultans is the newest franchise to the Pakistan Super League 2018 that will certainly be keen to start the competition on a good note. Sultans have mustered good resources in the batting and bowling departments and could spring a surprise in the tournament.

Shoaib Malik is named the captain of the Multan Sultans for the coming season with Kieron Pollard acting as his deputy. Kumar Sangakkara will take the gloves besides being the premier batsman in the side. The left-handed batsman would be keen to do well for his new franchise after not doing well in the first two editions of PSL.

Kieron Pollard and Shoaib Malik are quality players who can provide depth and options with bat and ball. Thisara Perera is another one who will do a similar job for the side in the competition. Multan Sultans made interesting choices during PSL draft held in Lahore in the month of November.

Ahmed Shehzad, Sohaib Maqsood, and Darren Bravo were key players picked up by Multan Sultans during the PSL draft. Shehzad has been an in-form player for Pakistan and would certainly be crucial for Multan at the top of the order. Maqsood has been exceptional at the domestic level but would need to translate that in the upcoming season to make a comeback into the national side.

Nicholas Pooran, Darren Bravo, and Ross Whiteley were also picked up by Multan Sultans in order to cover all the bases for the PSL 2018. On the bowling front, Umar Gul, Junaid Khan, and Mohammad Irfan are experienced players who will battle it out for a place in the lineup. Multan Sultans also picked South Africa’s premier spinner Imran Tahir for coming season. Mohammad Abbas and South Africa’s Hardus Viljoen are also emerging players who can do well for the side.
