Inaugural season Champions will look towards having a better run this season.

Misbah-ul-Haq will be determined to make sure he can return glory days to Islamabad United. The side was crowned champions in the inaugural season of Pakistan Super League but were not the up to the mark in the following season.

The squad will see a number of new faces as Brad Haddin, Dwayne Smith, Shane Watson, Saeed Ajmal, Mohammad Irfan, Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif were released by the franchise for the upcoming season. Islamabad United made some interesting picks during PSL draft as South African Jean-Paul Duminy for the coming edition.

Andre Russell, Sam Billings, Luke Ronchi and David Willey will certainly bolster the side’s chances for the coming season. Alex Hales will also be a part of Islamabad United for the coming season. England opener is a terrific performer in the T20 format and will certainly provide impetus with the bat at the top of the order.

Samuel Badree, Zafar Gohar, and Shadab Khan are spin options for the side. Shadab has certainly become a world-class cricketer since playing his first PSL season last year. He has been a standout performer for the national side during this period and has also chipped with valuable runs with the bat.

Mohammad Sami and Rumman Raees will be first-choice pacers for the side as Islamabad United will be hoping that they do well in the upcoming season. Raees rose to prominence as death overs specialist during the previous season. He will act as deputy to Misbah-ul-Haq for the coming season.

Seasoned fast bowler Mohammad Sami has enjoyed a good run with the ball in the first two editions. He will be keen to do well in the upcoming PSL season that starts from 22nd February.

Islamabad United appointed Waqar Younis as bowling consultant for the upcoming season. The side will eye their second title this season given the resources at their disposal.
