The PSL draft turned out to be an interesting event with six franchises picking many players that could change their fortunes for PSL 3. Pakistan Super League has been a breeding ground for a lot of players who have been plucked from hibernation into the international spotlight. Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan have risen among the ranks to be a permanent fixture of the Pakistan side.
It will be a big opportunity for new players i.e. domestic and international to showcase their skills with the ball in PSL 3.
Tymal Mills
The left-arm pace bowler has been playing T20 Leagues all over the world. Mills have played in Indian Premier League, Big Bash League and played for Quetta Gladiators in PSL last season. England-born fast bowler is quite a daunting proposition in the T20 format but has yet to fully showcase his exploits with the ball. Mills was not picked during the PSL draft but was picked by Karachi Kings for Mitchell Johnson. The opportunity could spur him on to do something special in PSL 3.
Jofra Archer
West Indies-born fast bowler has gained rave reviews for his performances in the ongoing edition of Big Bash League. Archer has been instrumental with the new-ball and has helped Hobart qualify for the finals of BBL. The bowler has shown good athleticism in the field as well and can smash sixes with the bat when required. He certainly is in the spotlight for his pace and accuracy in the PSL 3.
Zafar Gohar
The left-arm orthodox spinner has been touted as a promising player who can certainly steal the show for Islamabad United. Gohar has an excellent record in the domestic T20 circuit having taken 36 wickets from 29 games at an average of 20.2. This could be his year as he will be determined to produce his best with the ball in PSL 3.
Mohammad Asghar
The left-arm spinner from Quetta made an instant impression with the ball in the second edition of Pakistan Super League playing for Peshawar Zalmi. He picked up 8 wickets from 7 games and also dismissed top-quality players in the competition. Asghar will try his best to make sure he can do much better in Pakistan Super League 2018 and claim a place in the national side.
Yasir Shah
Pakistan’s go-to man in Test cricket has largely been overlooked in the shorter formats of the game. Shah has done an exceptional job for the side in red-ball cricket but will be keen to do well in Pakistan Super League 2018 and make an impression on selectors.
Certainly, PSL 3 would have certainly gained impetus in terms of hype if players like Mitchell Johnson and Carlos Brathwaite were available for the competition.
