West Indies-born fast bowler Jofra Archer has gained massive recognition after delivering scintillating performances for Hobart Hurricanes in the ongoing Big Bash League. The West Indies-born has been bagged by Quetta Gladiators for the upcoming edition of Pakistan Super League as a replacement for all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite who decided to skip the competition due to international commitment for West Indies.
Pakistan Cricket Board officials cleared the air by saying that Archer will play for Quetta Gladiators will not be able to all the games for Quetta due to personal commitments. Jofra Archer also was bagged for a whopping $1.125 million by Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League auction event. This news came as a big surprise for me as pace bowler has yet to make his debut at the international level.
Jofra Archer has played all ten games for Hobart in the Big Bash League this season. He has impressed everyone with his bowling performances in the competition. He is good in the outfield and can strike a cricket ball at a fair distance. He already has 15 wickets to his name at an economy rate of 7.5 in the competition.
Despite being eligible to play for West Indies, he has expressed his desire to play Test cricket for England and has been a part of second-string Sussex XI since past couple of years. Jofra Archer will join his Sussex colleague Tymal Mills, who was picked up by Karachi Kings in the replacement draft as a replacement for Australia’s Mitchell Johnson who decided to skip the competition citing personal issues.
Luke Wright, Angelo Matthews, and Colin Munro will not be available for the upcoming edition of Pakistan Super League despite being picked in PSL draft held in Lahore. The third edition of Pakistan Super League is all set to begin from 22nd Feb.
